PLA is a new kind of biobased and renewable biodegradable material, which is made from starch proposed by renewable plant resources (such as corn and cassava). Starch raw materials obtained glucose through saccharification, and then fermentation of glucose and certain strains to produce high purity lactic acid, and then through chemical synthesis method to synthesize polylactic acid of a certain molecular weight.>
Lactic acid is a common food additive widely used in food, wine and medicine industries.Lactic acid is also a biocompatible substance, which can be completely absorbed by the human body through metabolism, so the high safety of PLA is self-evident when it is used in the manufacture of food containers and human intimate contact devices.
PLA products have good biodegradability and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions after use, resulting in carbon dioxide and water,
returning to the nature without polluting the environment. This is very conducive to the protection of the environment, is recognized as environmentally friendly materials.
PLA is stronger and more resistant to high temperature than traditional materials. It contains no BPA and additives and is safe and non-toxic.At present, PLA is regarded as the best substitute for consumer grade plastics internationally.
